aerial view of the farm.
Driveway off Cove Road, a secondary county road, into the barn lot and, to the right, to the house (bottom center of photo). In a counter clockwise direction, starting with house at 6:00 - studio behind the house, small chicken/garden shed at the fence line between yard and small lot, barn, stables, corn crib. At upper right hand corner, in upper pasture, is a 60' round pen for working horses. At about 11:00 is the metal workshop with cement floor, separate office and half bath then granary (could be made into 2 bedroom farm cottage), antique livestock scales, yearly certified by VDACS. Nearer the house is a detached Mennonite made garage with loft and metal roof. There are 2 chutes for working cattle, one beside the scales building, the other behind workshop. All buildings have electricity or are accessible and metal workshop has heat in building, half bath and in office.
All fields on same side of road as house go with the farm and some fields not shown in photograph.
The first floor has two porches and both the front porch and back porch have metal roofs; the sun room has a deck.
One enters the house from the back porch into the mudroom. The kitchen (right), or up stairs (left) to the laundry room. Once in the kitchen, one may go into the pantry, the sun room or the family room. A ADA bathroom is off the sun room and shares the same beautiful view.
From the kitchen one enters the family room then into the dining room or the downstairs hall. On the opposide side of the hall there are two rooms used as a bedroom and parlor; under the stairs is a powder room and closet. The hall has doors leading to the front and back porches. The bedroom facing the back porch has a door and could be used as a home office.
One
second floor access if from the mudroom leading to the laundry room then the upstairs bath (with original claw foot tub)
or into a room that's been used as both bedroom and office. There are four rooms (bedrooms) off the upstairs hall, two on either side of the hall. The front stairs lead to the downstairs hall.
The house is approximately 5500 square feet and few changes have been made in order to keep the original footprint intact. The added rooms are the powder room, the sun room and the downstairs bath; all else is original.
